Get creative this weekend

Looking to be inspired, or to flex your creative muscles this weekend?

Go see director Sabiha Majgaonkar’s rendition of the Laurence Olivier award-winning dark comedy Carnage. Two families meet to settle a fight between their sons, biting hilarity ensues.  See it Friday, August 31st to Sept 1st at The Junction Dubai in Al Serkal Avenue.

Wanting to get your hands dirty? The JamJar is holding several workshops in its Al Serkal space this Saturday. An Acrylic Painting Techniques workshop for those more seasoned artists perfecting their skills, and Joan Miro’s Retratos Little One’s Workshop for budding little artists.

Don’t want to get your hands dirty but still looking to engage with your artistic side? Check out the workshops at Dubai Design District! The Jaffat Al Aqlam workshop on Zines: an introduction into the radical form of expression in print based media

and Altered Realities, which upcycles photographs that didn’t turn out as expected (we all have many of those).

End your weekend with a 10-minute dance performance by Sima Dance Company. The piece, “If Only I Knew” is part of Al Serkal’s summer program “Sensing Memory”. If you can’t catch it Saturday, Sept 1 at 7.30pm, the next performance is September 30. Learn more at alserkalavenue.ae.
