Pamela Durant is a Dubai-based wellness and lifestyle medicine coach, a mindful eating coach and facilitator. She’s also the mother of a son who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was just 20 months old. In 2016 this experience inspired her to leave a successful corporate career as a healthcare consultant for clinics and hospitals to start her own company, DiapointME, which provides a space for people who have been touched by diabetes.
Highlights:
• What it’s like to have a child with Type 1 diabetes
• Why diabetes is so misunderstood by the general public and media
• The shaming of people with diabetes that doesn’t happen with other health conditions
• The problem with the label “lifestyle disease”
• The difference between coaching, therapy, and clinical advice and why you need all of them if you have diabetes
• Why everyone, diabetes or not, needs to eat healthy
• Changing the “war against diabetes” narrative
