Visitors to the secluded Omani resort, Six Senses Zighy Bay, can now choose from an assortment of exotic and locally sourced organic herbs and essential oils to make their own hair and skin products.
During 60-minute workshops, conducted under expert guidance, guests to the Spa Alchemy Bar will learn about different herbal properties, the quality of the ingredients in essential oils and the best aromas to boost or calm mood.
They can then choose from the provided array of ingredients and scents to make their own body scrubs, wraps, face and hair masks – even lip balm.
Scrubs can be built from all-natural Zighy Bay salt, sugar, oats, puffed rice or sesame seeds. Oils on offer include rice bran, grape seed, virgin coconut, castor and flaxseed. The finisher is two to three drops of essential oil, including eucalyptus, lavender, lemongrass, mandarin, spearmint and tea tree.
Guests can choose to make two to five products, costing US$26-52.
If you can’t make it up to Six Senses Zighy Bay anytime soon, then mix together the following ingredients into a paste for an invigorating toning and firming scrub:
Grape seed oil: base oil
Zighy (or any sea) salt: detoxifying
Ginger: to boost body circulation
Juniper Berries: to tackle cellulite
