As the temperatures (slowly) start to drop and the the city’s buzz heats back up, new fitness-inspired and workout styles are popping up daily. From big shoes to tight biker shorts, we’ve picked our favorite fashion from what’s trendy and hot right now – and tell you where you can get them in the UAE.
Hot trend: Neon

Local UAE brand Squat Wolf sells gym wear at affordable prices for both men and women. Gents can rock the bright-as-you-dare neon trend with the brand’s Next Gen Stringer in Neon (Dh140), which is sleeveless in a dry-wick fabric. For ladies, there’s the long-sleeve Warrior Crop Tee in Neon, which has thumbholes and a low-scooping back to show off your sports bra (Dh105).
Pair the entire look with Tips and Toes brand new Glow in the Dark Nails manicure and pedicure, which lets your nails shine neon-bright when the lights go off in your fitness studio of choice
Hot trend: Ocean plastic

Based in the UK with easy UAE shipping, this multi-brand fitness website has stylish looks for everyone. Help reduce and recycle with PlayerLayer’s Eco Legging made from Ocean Plastic (Dh268). Some 25 water bottles are used to create one pair of these high-rise, slick leggings.
Pair this with a set of Adidas Parley running shoes. Made from recycled ocean plastics and with a focus on raising funds to be used for preserving the health of the oceans, these are great all-purpose trainers for both men and women.
Hot trend: VSCO colorful

Hailed as the Valley Girl of the new age, the #VSCO girls of Instagram are a colorful, casual, eco-minded and a little bit beach-fresh bunch. Channel this preppy trend with local brand yApparel. Founded by Dubai yogi Dina Ghandour, yApparel has all sorts of yoga bits. Try the Electric Rose Paloma Top for filter-ready moments (Dh390), or the bold Noble Legging for patterned flare (Dh465).
Pair it with scrunchies from Namshi and metal straws from new UAE start-up The Good Company.
Hot trend: Celebrity fitness collabs

Celeb culture has never been stronger, and seriously big names are collaborating with some of our favorite sports brands. Check out Reebok x Victoria Beckham for women’s and unisex styles done in a slightly edgy, New York way. Everything is oversized or ballet-inspired. We also still love The Rock’s collaboration with Under Armour, Project Rock, which has boxing-worthy joggers and leggings (Dh319), plus oversized jumpers with antler logos (Dh209 for ladies).
Pair it with an Ivy Park beanie, straight from Beyonce’s own brand.
Hot trend: Sherbert shades

Dubai startup L’Couture has some of the cutest things we’ve seen in ages, including their middle-scrunch shorts and nude-toned workout sets. Yet it’s the brand’s love of the poppy pink, mint greens and baby blues that has caught our eye. Check out the Candy Mint Sports Bra and if you’re feeling particularly daring, pair it with the mint crop top from the same range. The fabric isn’t quite sweat-proof, but it’s pleasantly soft with medium compression. We’re also massive fans of the entire Women’s Best pastel range, which rumor has it will be shipping to the UAE soon. Men can get involved with Nike’s pure cotton Wash Shorts (Dh229) and wash sweater (Dh299), both in dusty pink rose.
Pair it with this XD Design Bobby anti-theft backpack in pastel blue, which can take you from the gym, home, then straight on a global trip around the world safely.
Hot trend: Big, big, big shoes

Massive shoes are possibly the biggest style trend at the moment – pun intended. And it’s not looking like it will go away soon. Embrace it with the Puma x Cara Delevigne collection. Here you’ll find supersized sneakers with pops of pastel and huge, Barney-worthy bottoms. They might not be the best for training, but they’ll look great getting you to the gym. And if you have a casual Dh3,000 to spend, go for the ultimate Balenciaga pair.
Pair with oversized ankle socks, ideally with some kind of sporty logo.
Hot trend: Biker shorts

One of the strangest things to come into fashion, biker shorts swept across the scene a few months ago and haven’t cycled out yet. Rock this trend with a pair of Adidas Originals cycling shorts in simple black (Dh135). For the more daring, Missguided Curve has released a range of cycle shorts in bold neons and glossy grey (Dh175 for three). For gents, Adidas has various biker-style shorts at affordable prices, including its Alphaskin Sport Shorts (Dh149).
For the fashionistas, pair this look with a delicate top, oversized blazer and heels. If you’re actually hitting Al Qudra for a round of cycling, match it with a sports top and sunscreen.
Hot trend: 80s and 90s

Vintage is having a real moment, with the current style du jour sitting somewhere between the 80s and 90s. Channel your Saved by the Bell dreams with Nike’s NSW collection, which features plenty of block colors, bold shapes and chunky cuts. We’re fans of the NSW fleece in pink for ladies, great for any trips abroad or air-conditioned offices (Dh349). For guys, the Nike NSW shirt in black goes perfectly well with a straight-from-the-90s bucket hat (Dh149).
Pair with an oversized scrunchy for girls, like this Mulberry silk number. Or throw on these track bottoms from Gucci and get ready to make a statement without even taking a stand.
