With amazing weather and gorgeous settings, Abu Dhabi is a sensational place for some outdoor yoga.
Feeling the sun on your back while you’re moving into a vinyasa just makes that rush of energy feel extra powerful, so why not give it a try while the temperatures are still perfect?
Here are six of the most incredible places to flow in the fresh air:
Cove Beach Abu Dhabi
This sizzling beach club might be better known for its less healthy activities (rosé all day anyone?) but on a Friday it’s filled with nourishing and uplifting vibes. With the striking skyline of Reem Island on one side and the sparkling Arabian Gulf on the other, the Morning Power Yoga class will leave you feeling productive, strong and confident, and perhaps a little smug that you did something so beneficial all before 10am. Led by fellow Reem Island residents Seven Wellness and over before the sun really starts to power down, it’s a beautiful place to pause and let the nutrients of your practice sink in.
Dh65. Fridays at 8.30am. @covebeachabudhabi
Jubail Mangrove Park
There can’t be many cities in the world where you can stretch away your worries on a floating boardwalk above an ancient mangrove forest. Proving yet again why Abu Dhabi is a simply amazing place to live, the Moving Meditation & Sound Healing class by YogaOne is an experience of a lifetime. Rest and heal your body while you absorb the sounds of this precious area’s fascinating wildlife. You’ll come away feeling renewed and refreshed.
Dh85. Saturdays at 9am. @yogaoneuae
Louvre Abu Dhabi
It’s funny how bridge pose feels less strenuous when you’re looking up at Jean Nouvel’s iconic dome of the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Surrounded by bright blue waters and featuring a roof inspired by the date-palm thatching of traditional Bedouin homes, there has never been a more powerful and moving place to find perfect stillness. Best of all, each session comes with a free pass to all the exhibitions.
Dh90. Sundays and Tuesdays, 10.15am and 5pm. Saturdays, 11am and 5pm. @bodytreestudio
Saadiyat Beach Club
Prepare to get a little salty whilst pulling your best warrior poses in the lapping waves of Saadiyat Beach Club. Of course, you’ll want to Instagram every single second of it, but this class isn’t all good looks and no substance. According to Bodytree, your body absorbs more oxygen and negative ions when you’re by the ocean, and this can make you make you feel extra relaxed and content.
Dh95. Saturdays, 8.30am. @bodytreestudio
Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas
Inner Seed’s beach yoga classes come in a variety of unusual and brilliant forms, including Restorative Yin Yoga, Full Moon Healing, Express Yourself: Throat Chakra, Detox & Twist, Healing Chakra and more. Set on the shores of Saadiyat Rotana hotel, reconnecting with yourself with the sand between your toes and the cool sea breeze on your face is an other-worldly sensation.
From Dh130 (ladies only). Timings vary. @innerseed
Umm Al Emarat Park
The pandemic has taught us many things, and one is that free online yoga classes are actually really, really good. So, if Yoga with Adriene and the rest of YouTube’s yogi masters have got you out of the habit of paying for your classes, just head to Umm Al Emarat Park on a Wednesday evening. As the city’s most vast and luscious green space, the tweeting birds and expert instructions from the Seven Wellness and Flo Studio teachers will soon have you forgetting about your to-do list and tuning into your breath.
Free. Wednesdays, 6.30pm. @ummalemaratpark
